ABOUT US

Our story

Dales Dairies is a family-run business, now in its third generation.

The business was started in 1938 by William Oversby, who ran a dairy farm and started selling milk to the local community. The business grew over the next 25 years, and in 1963 he passed the reins over to his son, John Oversby.

John continued to develop the business.  By the 1980s the business had grown to eight milk rounds, and John decided to start selling milk to other wholesalers in the Yorkshire area. A further 20 years of growth passed and in 2003, John decided to pass the business over to third generation son, David.

At that point, the business changed its name to Town Head Farm Products Ltd.  It now has a customer base which includes local milkmen, schools, retail shops and wholesalers, through to large public sector organisations.

In January 2011, the company obtained the trading name of "Dales Dairies" and will be trading under this name in the future.

In 2015, in need of room for expansion, we purchased the Aireworth Distribution Centre in Keighley and in 2023 we opened our new bottling and distribution facility there.  We can now fill over 100 million glass bottles a year.

In 2020 we launched a Dales Dairies branded butter.

The family continues to run the working dairy farm in Grassington where it all began.
